Darling Diva Polish Review and Swatches

My lovelies!!! I am sorry it's been a while yet again!! Life is so busy ALL the time it seems!! However, I am here and posting some GREAT swatches!

I'd like to first thank Darling Diva Polish for letting me review some of her polishes! They are fabulous!

First off is Release the Kraken V2. There are 2 versions of this, hence the V2 in the name. A friend of mine over at Jen's Nail Files on Facebook reviewed Release the Kraken which is the first version! It was one fabulously! No fishing for glitter! This is one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE polishes EVER and that is saying a lot considering I am not a glitter person normally! This polish has got me hooked on white jelly based glitters that are not glitter bombs. I don't like glitter bombs all too well. So here are the pictures! This is 2 coats of RTKV2 over a white base.

I know some of you are squimish about pedicures but I loved how RTKV2 looked on my toes and I had to share!

This next one is called Sophia. It's a beautiful blue glitter with a blue jelly base. It's a very subtle blue jelly base. It also has bigger holographic hex glitter but those were so far down no amount of shaking could get them up :( I fished and fished and got nothing :( Sorry DDP, but it's true. I forget what I layered it over. It's a light pink though :) Other then the bigger glitters not coming out this went on nicely and would be great by itself too!

Now, last but certainly not the least is Too Schmexxxy. This is a fabulous multi shaped holographic glitter polish with a clear base! It has heart, moons, stars, diamonds, hexs and squares! There may be more I am missing too!! Who knows?!?! It's awesome though! I layered it over Sation Oh My Oceania! Isn't it pretty :) Minor fishing but not too bad at all otherwise!

If you are interested in purchasing some Darling Diva Polishes, you can buy them at her Etsy store here! She has fabulous colors!!

Thank you for reading and I hope y'all enjoyed the review and swatches! Now, click that link and go buy some so I can see YOUR swatches!!

Breast Cancer Awareness

So October is Breast Cancer Awareness month! I have a Halloween challenge I am trying to do so I decided that in between Halloween manis I would do breast cancer awareness manis. I hope that a lot of you will follow and wear pink at least to help raise awareness. I have been a breast cancer awareness supporter for many years and I can't donate a lot of money so I help raise awareness the best I can! So please, help me raise awareness! Thank you!

Base is OPI Sparrow Me the Drama and the ribbons are done with BM stamping plate 321 and the polish color is OPI Kiss Me On My Tulips.

Hello my fabulous followers! I haven't posted in so long! My apologies! I've been so unmotivated lately, but I have done some manis and I want to get them up here for y'all to see! I will post 3 manis this time and 3 again soon. Hopefully not 2 months later though!

So this first mani is a GORGEOUS color! OPI La Boheme! I absolutely LOVE this color!! OPI is my fav brand so I have nothing bad to say about this polish! The color is great and the formula is great! I know a lot of people think OPI is too runny but I like my polish that way. I can't stand it all thick :/. Anyway here's the pretty polish!

The second mani I have for you is China Glaze Liquid Leather and Hits Phenomenon Moonbow! This combo is stunning! I plan on trying Moonbow with other darker colors but I wanted to see it over black in person! Liquid Leather is ok. It's a 2 coated black (for me anyway) and I much prefer 1 coaters. Moonbow went on nicely and I didn't think I'd like it all that much because I am NOT a glitter person at all! I may do more glitters since I know of the glue method now! I should try it soon!

Number 3 is my cow mani (third pic down)! Base is Cheri American Beauty, the black spots are Cheri Black, the pink is an SC color but I can't remember the name right off. Sorry :(! Anyway, I decided to do cows because I had gone to my Uncle's ranch in northern California for a few days. My Uncle works with cows (not Holstein cows but cows nonetheless), and horses but I figured cows would be easier to do lol!

Whatcha think?! Has anyone ever tried cows before? What's you fav base for Moonbow?!

Dollish Polish!!!

Hello my beauties!!! Today I have for you some Dollish Polish!! My Facebook birthday group did a group order and so I finally got me my first ever Dollish Polish polishes!! Now since I am making this post on my phone, I am not able to put pics in the middle so if you don't want to read my babbling then scroll on down!

So the polishes I bought from Dollish Polish are called: Aurora Borealis, Aurora Australis, Expecto Patronum, and Sweet Dreams Are Made of Glitter! See pic at the bottom.

Now all these polishes are GORGEOUS, so I had a hard time choosing which one to swatch first! I finally decided on Sweet Dreams Are Made of Glitter! It's a beautiful mint green base with a subtle green shimmer and multi colored glitter. The glitter consists of mostly hex glitter. Small sized and what I consider "medium" sized. There is also squared glitter that could be considered large but I feel it's between medium and large.

Anyway, application was ok. It was a little thicker then I like but I didn't expect less with glitter. It was opaque in 2 coats. The picture I have below is with no "undies".

Do any of you own any Dollish Polish? If so, which ones?!

Thanks for reading!!

Zoya Tru

Hey followers!! I am so sorry about being MIA (again) for nearly a month!! Time just zooms by and my life has been SO busy!!!

Ok so for today I have for you Zoya Tru! It's a beautiful purple with gold shimmer. It almost looks like gold micro glass flecks! It's absolutely STUNNING! If you don't have this color, you need to! I love it! I swapped with the incredible Ms. Crumpet over at The Crumpet! She's the best! All I had to do was send white chocolate Reeces Pieces! LOL. I have never tried them myself and I don't intend to! I'm not big on white chocolate and that also will be in a different post. Maybe a different blog? Hmm, I'll ponder that!

So without further ado, here is Zoya Tru in all her glory!!

Isn't she just beautiful!! Oh I love it!
So there you have it! Zoya Tru! She went on like a dream and only 2 coats for full opacity!

I have a similar color to this and I MIGHT to a comparison! What do you all think? Would you like to see me do a comparison or 3? LOL I have lots of dupes I think! If so, what colors? I will see if I have that specific color! Thanks for reading my beauties! *kisses*

ASBMF #6 and 7 - Ombré and Glitter Tips

Hello fellow polish lovers! I have for you two more manis from the April Showers Bring May Flowers challenge!!

The first mani you'll see is day 6, ombré! For this I wasn't sure whether to do a gradient ombré or to paint my nails dark to light (kwim?) so I decided to do both! I forget color names but when I get them I'll let ya know!!

The second mani is day 7, glitter tips! I decided to use Deborah Lippmann's Candy Shop since I had yet to actually try the color! Ok I don't remember the base color. I want to say it was GOSH Bubble Gum, but I'm just not sure! I'll have to look!

Ok, so now it's picture time. They are pretty self explanatory. The first (top) pic is of my day 6 ombré and the second (bottom) is day 7 glitter tips.

ASBMF #4 and 5: April Showers and a Rainbow

WOW!! Ok so it's been a little bit since I have posted a Spring Challenge mani hasn't it?! Well I have not one but TWO for you today! The first mani is "April Showers," but before you all look at the picture, let me explain it. The colors I used were Essence Twins Romeo, Sinful Colors Blue By You,and Nabi Silver Glitter. The Essence represents overcast skies, the SC represents blue skies and the Nabi is rain.

Now I did both overcast and blue because of ASBMF #5: A Rainbow After the Rain! The color I used for that is Nfu-Oh 63! It's a gorgeous light pink holo!! I am in love with it!!

Look at that holo-y goodness!!! Beautiful color, right?!

Well that is all for today! My kids are having a bad day so I need to get them down for a nap. Neither (especially my son) didn't sleep well last night. Here's to a good nap...for mommy's sake! Thanks for reading!

Catching Up

Ok do I am typing this on my phone as I am laying down in bed. I am about to nap! It's been a heck of a day so far! My kids don't want to listen, I need to go grocery shopping, I need to clean the house and I have to do it with 2 grouchy kids! UGH! Ok I am done lol. On to the mani!

Today I have for you OPI Just Spotted the Lizard from the new 2012 Spiderman collection! It's an exact dupe of Chanel Peridot and let me tell you, it's GORGEOUS!!! It went on very well despite some brush strokes, but I've yet to come across a polish like this and not get at least one nail with brush strokes! It doesn't bother me though! I have a comparison page saved on my desktop that I am going to add but I won't be able to get it till later. Ok, here we go! P.S. This polish does not make my hands look like a lobster. It was bad lighting!

EDIT (05/10/2012): Here is the comparison. Sarah over at Pinch of Pretty did a great job at the comparison!

April Showers Bring May Flowers (ASBMF) #1: Spring Pastels/Tutorial

I recently joined a FB group that is doing a Spring Challenge. It's called April Showers Bring May Flowers Challenge started by the lovely Hannah over at Polished Prisms. There are 14 different mani's to do that I can do at my own pace. I love that I can do it whenever I want. Makes life easier LOL. With 2 kids running around and my wifely duties (house cleaning etc... especially since husband is gone for 3 weeks for work) a woman can get pretty busy and tired!! So my own pace is good! Here is the challenge!

Ok, so the first challenge was for a simple pastel mani. I was at Target with my kids and I went down the Easter aisle and it had Easter jelly beans. As soon as I saw them I was inspired to do a mani that looked like those jelly beans! As soon as I was done I posted the pic and I had a few people ask me how I did it! For the life of me I cannot remember the video I watched that I got this idea from, but let it be known that this type of mani was not "invented" by me!

So now, I will make my FIRST EVER tutorial!! This is my jelly bean mani!

Ok, to start off you need to choose the colors you want. You don't have to have pastels. I chose pastels for 2 reasons. 1.) It was part of my challenge, and 2.) It's Spring/Easter time! Pastels are a must during spring! Anyway, choose your colors. You will want slightly darker shades of the colors (or different is you so choose) you chose to use for the speckled part. Now paint your base color in which ever order you want them to be in. Here are the colors I used:

The bottom half of the picture are the colors used for the speckles

For this part you will need a paint palette or something similar that won't "melt" from acetone/polish remover. I have a cheap $.99 paint palette from Michaels. I usually tape my fingers as shown. Helps minimize the clean up! Next what you want to do is just put a drop or two of the darker shade polish and mix in a bit of acetone to make it thinner. Not too watery or it won't work!
Please excuse the nails. I needed a fill, but I took my acrylics off instead.

Ok, get ready for the messy part! Take a brush (I use a cheapo eye shadow brush and trimmed it down a bit) and dip it in the nail polish mixture. Then hold the brush as shown below. Please excuse the dry thumb. I had used acetone to clean my finger before the picture. Once you are doing this, just lets the bristles slide off your thumb to "fling" the polish at your finger. Make sure you keep your finger close to the brush and at the correct angle. This does get quite messy so be aware.
I had dinged my index finger so the finished product looks different

Once you "fling" the polish onto your nail the way you like it then do your normal clean up, top coat and moisturizing then move on to the next and follow the same steps with the mixture and brush! Then you're done!
As you can see the left is before clean up and top coat. The right is the finished product.

If anyone ends up trying this let me know!! I'd love to see your take on this mani!!

The Diva Loves Max!

Hello my wonderful polish addicts, lovers, and obsessors!! Today I have for you a GORGEOUS duo that I happened to figure out by accident!

I was just sitting at my nail station, which is also my computer desk, and I was swatching some new colors I purchased today. One of the purchases I made was OPI Diva of Geneva. Oh this color is spectacular!! It's like a purple based red shimmer polish! Oh it's beautiful. I'll have swatches of that beau by itself later on!

There is another color that I purchased a while ago that I just received in the mail around March 28th. Another gorgeous color! It's Max Factor Fantasy Fire (aka the Clarins 230 dupe). This baby is awesome!! Purple jelly case with color morphing glitter/shimmer. What would you call that? Anyway, it changes from red to yellow to green. It's wonderful!

Ok so as I was swatching DoG (Diva of Geneva), I had an epiphany! Layer Fantasy Fire over DoG!! Lordy I am so glad I did too! It's hard to explain the look so why don't you all take a look at the pics. We all know that's why you're really here anyway right? ;-)

Friday, March 30, 2012

Today I have an incredible mani!! Well I am posting it today but the mani was from a few days ago. I didn't do any nail art or anything like that. I just did a single color but it has MANY colors in the formula! I bring you China Glaze OMG! This polish was easy to apply. I didn't notice getting any bald spots (except where my nail "humps" are, but I filed those away and re did the polish) and it was opaque in 2 coats! I probably could have gone 3 but I chose not to! So without further ado, here is the fabulous CG OMG!!!

Oh my look at that holo-y goodness! I think I am going to challenge myself to 31 days of holo's starting in May. I am currently in a challenge right now ever though I haven't done most of it. I have been having a hard month and have only have the motivation and energy to do simple 1 color mani's, BUT I am starting to want to do more again so YAY!!

I think what helped motivate me is that I don't want to bore you all for one! Two, my husband helped me move my nail stuff to next to my computer! SoI cleaned off my computer desk (which was a BIG mess) and now I have even MORE room to do my nails!! I have been so happy with it that I have skipped on my nightly routine of a relaxing spa bath just to sit at my computer desk, watch Netflix and paint my nails!! I love it!

Keep your eyes open for more posts coming soon!!

P.S. Three (3) more followers till another giveaway!! Help me out followers!!!

Monday Mani Challenge!!

Ok peeps! Yes, I said peeps what of it? Today I have for you my Monday mani challenge. The Facebook group that I am in (Polish-Aholics Anonymous) has a challenge every Monday. I think this is the first one I have done! The theme is food!

Well I asked my 4 year old daughter what type of food mommy should paint on her nails. My husband said strawberries but my daughter didn't like that idea. I suggested cupcakes and she said, while rubbing her tummy "Oo YUM!" lol. So we chose cupcakes!

I do not plan on listing all the polishes used because I used 15, yes FIFTEEN polishes to make this mani possible!! It also took about 2-3 hours lol! The brands I used are OPI, China Glaze, Sally Hansen, Kiss and Princessa. It was fun and I got to watch a cute movie with my kids! Veggie Tales - The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything. We like that movie.

Anyway, here are the pics! I will resize them when I get to my desktop in the am. Thanks for looking and please refrain from licking your screens. Thank you! :-)

Spring Challenge Day 11 - Pastel Patchwork

Hello wonderful followers!! This will be short and sweet. I gotta get my kids in the bath hehe!

I have a new spring mani for ya!! Pastel patchwork is my first patchwork mani. I played a bit and I like how it turned out! I'm sorry I am few days late on it but I got it up right?! LOL

I used Orly Fresh, Snowcone, Lollipop, Cotton Candy and I also used OPI Planks A Lot and Sparrow Me the Drama. I used black acrylic paint for the patchwork.

How'd I do for my first time?!

Thank you for looking and have a wonderful weekend!!

International Festival

I have for you a very unique (in my opinion) mani today! Let me explain why my mani is the way it is.

My daughters school is having an International Festival today (Friday, March 1, 2012) and what happens, to my understanding, is that each class has a country they "do" things for. Such as pictures, decoration, food etc... There are three classes, therefore three countries. Germany, Brazil, and India! My daughters class got India.

So after things were done, each class set up their things as a museum. The kids were able to go to the other classes to look at their museums. Monday was Germany, Tuesday was Brazil and Wednesday was India. So now what happens is that there is a performance done by the kids. Singing and dancing and so on.

So what I did was googled the flags for each of those countries and did the nail art! The picture on the left is upside down on purpose. That was the only way to capture the flags in their correct state hehe. That was a nail art "my bad". Anywho, my left ring finger is the flag of Germany, my index is Brazil and my right ring is India! Now I did the rest of my nails in that purple/blue because my daughter is wearing a deep purple costume (India type clothing) and I wanted to match. So without further ado (finally right lol) here is the picture! I hope I did ok on the flags! Enjoy!

P.S. I couldn't do the writing or the stars properly on the Brazil flag because it was too small. Also the globe is blue it just dried really dark. Dang acrylic paint lol. Sorry Brazilians :-(

My Private Jet

So I went dusty hunting when I went to visit my family a bit ago. When I went into the mail salon I instantly saw OPI MPJ and I asked to purchase it. They said no! I was like I'll give you $7.00 for it! I really wanted it so I kept pestering and the FINALLY let me have it! I also scored China Glaze Kaleidoscope Him Out and He's Going in Circles from the Kaleidoscope Collection. Check it out!

As you can see by the bottom picture they were all still pretty full! Add a bit of thinner to each (not a lot) and they all get a little more full hehe!

Ok, so now I have OPI's My Private Jet! I haven't tried it yet until now and I must say I LOVE IT!! It's a nice dark coffee bean brown holo. It went on well and took about 3 coats for full opacity. It's absolutely gorgeous in my opinion! I hope you all enjoy looking at the pic as much as I enjoy looking at my fingers LOL!

I will get swatches of Kaleidoscope Him Out and He's Going in Circles as soon as I can. I need to play catch up on my Spring Challenge. I accidentally skipped today's, but will get it done tonight and snap pics, then I will take it off and do tomorrows!

I was originally going to paint the India Flag on my nails because I was hoping to be a volunteer-er at my daughters school but day care isn't provided for my son :( Only students. They are having museum set ups in their classrooms and the kids get to go to each classroom and check out the stuff! Yesterday was Germany, today is Brazil and tomorrow is India! My daughters teacher is from there so she (the teacher) is excited and made the kids some costumes for the dances they are doing on Friday! I can't wait to see it! I will post some pictures when I have them! Thanks for reading and enjoy your day!!

I finally found me the LAST Sinful Colors Cinderella at my local Walgreens for $0.99!! I am so excited! It's such a beautiful color! When I saw everyone's pictures I just thought it was a light blue with shimmer! I was right but I couldn't see that the shimmer was pink!

Cinderella went on very smooth in my opinion. I had no troubles with it at all! It's kind of sheer, but can be opaqued in just 2 coats! 3 would probably be better but I liked 2 coats. Ok here it is!

Can you see the pink micro flakies! Yes they are flakies! Extreme close up is below.

How gorgeous is that?!

I love this color! Not only that, but Cinderella is my favorite princess! She's one of my daughters favorites too, although my daughter (who is 4) calls her Cindyrelly lol! So how do you like Cinderella?!

My First Giveaway!! 50 Followers!!

My very first giveaway! I am slightly nervous since I have never done one before. I hope I don't screw it up LOL! The giveaway start tonight, Feb 28th at 12:01am. It will go on for a week and end on March 6th at 12:01am. Good luck everyone!

Here are the wonderful prizes I have for my awesome followers!!

I honestly don't know how it happened. I bought it that way, but I can guarantee that none of the polishes have been used.

For winner #2, you will get Sinful Colors Cast Away Collection!

Good luck to all that enter my giveaway and I hope you have enjoyed my blog so far! (click on "read more" for the giveaway widget thingy)

Spring Challenge Day 8 - Blossom Trees

Before I start my challenge post I need to vent!! I was cleaning yesterday, minding my own business when while shaking out the bathroom rugs my left pinky nail breaks!! WTH?!?! So of course I had to clip/file my nails down to even shorter nubbies then they were! Ugh!! After 3-4 weeks of nail envy my nail breaks!! *Sigh* oh well on to day 8 mani.

Today's challenge mani is Blossom Tree! Well this is my first time doing a Blossom Tree nail art mani. I hope you all like it!

The base is Wet N Wild I Need A Refresh Mint and I used acrylic paint for the nail art. I mixed red and white to get my pink paint. Enjoy!!

Spring Challenge Day 5 - Spring Clean - An Out of Season Color

Ugh! I have been so tired lately and I have no idea why!! I usually go to bed well past midnight but 2 out of like 4 days I have gone to bed at like 10 or 11!! Not sure what's up!

Anyway, because I have been so tired I missed day 3 and 4 of the challenge! Thank goodness it's no biggy lol! I did do day 5 which was on Tuesday. I am just now getting around to posting it. My apologies on the tardiness but life decided to get hectic. Now that it's slowing down I can post again!!

So for day 5 I was to choose an out of season color. In my opinion the color I chose is def out of season! I chose Wet n Wild Disturbia. This has become a new fav of mine! My pic shows the small bottle (forget size) but I recently found Disturbia at Rite Aid and my BX in a 15ml bottle! I was stoked so of course I bought one!! It went on nicely and left no bald spots (unless you paint in same area over and over but duh lol). It's a dark purplish/mauve color with what looks to be a pink/purple/blue shimmer. Check it out! The left pic is in direct sunlight, middle is with flash and the right is indirect sunlight. Hope you like it!

The Traveling Polish!!

Boy do I have some exciting news for you all!! A few of us addicts from the PAA group I am in on Facebook, have decided to do a traveling polish! Thanks to Carrie for getting us started!

So what's going to happen is that the polish that is chosen will travel the world! There is a list of people who are going to do this and everyone on the list will get a chance to do a mani, snap some photos, stick a postcard in the mailer along with the polish and send it off to the next person! Once the polish runs out it will be replaced with another! Fun right?!

The Traveling Polish beings March 1st so join up now! You can join on the Traveling Polish facebook page! Hope some of you take advantage of this fun and exciting idea!

Too Tired...

Evening ladies and gents! I won't be switching my mani tonight because I am just WAY too tired! I am usually up till 1am doing my nails but it is now nearly 10pm and I am falling asleep while posting this!

So instead of doing day 4 of the Spring Challenge (which reminds me I forgot day 3 due to fabulous nail mail which you're about to see) I will post the mani I did for today and now tomorrow lol!

Thanks to Charlotte Ann (will link in the AM, my apologies) from my PAA FB group, I am now the proud owner of China Glaze IDK and TMI! I received my nail mail yesterday and decided on IDK for my mani! Here it is!

For My Sister...

This post is for my eldest sister Rachel. She was talking to me trough FB chat last night and sent me a link to a blog where this girl made nail polish with eye shadow and then she put a matte top coat on it. I told Rachel that I had done that already. Made polish and matte'd some lol. She told me, and I quote "Well pfft :P" lol. I love my sister.

I asked Rachel what color she would like to see as a matte and she said a purplish blue. Ok perfect! I have a couple colors I can try out. I have Finger Paints Art of Theft. Its a navy blue base with a purple shimmer. I also have a similar OPI color but with a more pronounced purple shimmer. I can't remember the name though and I am not near my polish!

I had a feeling those colors wouldn't work because when you use a matte it takes away the prettiness of shimmers, holos, etc... But I tried anyway. It was a fail. The matte just made it look nearly black! So I got to thinking! What if I do 1 coat of FP Art of Theft and 2 coats of Sally Hansen Burgundy Orchid? Well, just take a look and let me know what you think!

Spring Challenge Day 2 - Favorite Spring Pink

Day 2 out of 60 days LOL! Today we get to choose our fav spring pink! I had a hard time choosing since my fav color is pink!! My wonderful husband helped me though! I was debating between OPI Got A Date To-Knight and GOSH Flamingo. My husband said to use GOSH because the OPI color was too "soft" it blended with my skin tone. So since I rarely get my husband's opinion I went with GOSH Flamingo. Here it is! 2 coats worth!

This was the only good pic I have. I tried to crop to get a close up on a nail but I didn't know that it's blurry a wee bit so it looked bad cropped. Anyway, it's just a pink mani! I love it though hehe!
